EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fulton County high school seniors and educators north of the Chattahoochee River may apply for funding from the Roswell Women's Club by 5 p.m. on March 6. The club will award a one-time $2,000 scholarship and grants for classroom projects, with winners announced in late spring and funds given before May graduations (applications must be submitted online).  Appen Media
  • The Learning Experience in Alpharetta launches its Little Engineers program today for children as young as 6 weeks so they can build early STEM skills in AI+software and mechanics. The preschool program aims to support growing local demand for tech talent.  FOX 5 Atlanta

  • Shelter and Shelves Rescue introduced a new puppy named Charleston for adoption yesterday, giving local pet lovers a chance to welcome a furry friend into their home.  FOX 5 Atlanta

  • At its Feb. 23 meeting, the City Council considered allowing 25 standalone homes and 27 townhomes on 6.46 acres along Lakeview Parkway near Ga. 400 at Haynes Bridge Road. Developer Traton proposed the plan due to weak office demand and increased need for housing (with 25 percent office vacancy).  Appen Media

  • Youth hockey players met at the Atlanta Ice House in Marietta on Monday morning to discuss Team USA's 2-1 overtime win over Canada that gave the nation its first hockey gold since 1980.
