ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Georgia DNR warns homeowners today to clean bird feeders to stop the spread of diseases among birds during spring and summer. Wildlife biologist Todd Schneider recommended cleaning feeders weekly with a 10-percent bleach solution — wearing protective gloves and a mask — and raking up dropped seed and droppings frequently. - ➤ State Sen. Nabilah Islam Parkes asked Insurance Commissioner John King to investigate whether major insurance companies have used affiliate companies to hide profits that drive higher premiums for locals. King said his office reviews such agreements (a process done on a case-by-case basis) as Parkes said more data is needed to see if insurers are taking advantage of citizens. WSB-TV
- ➤ Fulton County DA Fani Willis was ordered to pay over $54,000 in attorney's fees and turn over records within 30 days after her office handled requests without good faith — a ruling made after attorney Ashleigh Merchant filed a dispute — and she must complete the order within one month. - ➤ The Food and Drug Administration recalled more than 75,000 32oz bottles of International Delight Coffee Creamer—after complaints of spoilage and illness affected two flavors, the Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll with best-by date 03 JUL and the Hazelnut with best-by date 02 JUL. Danone Wave, which distributes the creamer, initiated the recall on Feb. 21 and advises consumers to discard any affected bottles sold in Georgia and other states. WSB-TV
