  • After returning from vacation in early March, a Dekalb County dog owner said her nine-year-old Maltipoo Snooki had dislocated his hip and needed emergency surgery after staying with a Rover sitter—who has not explained how the injury occurred. Attorney Claudine Wilkins reported that at least four metro Atlanta pet owners have shared similar cases and said Rover will face pressure to strengthen its sitter vetting process.  WSB-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fulton County Schools Police introduced a new K9 unit yesterday to detect firearms and boost school safety. The program uses three labrador retrievers (Ducky, Delilah, and Ernie) who, after months of training, will patrol more than 100 campuses.  FOX 5 Atlanta

  • On Thursday, the Atlanta Braves opened their season and several players were near key career milestones, with pitchers like Sale nearing 2,500 strikeouts and hitters such as Olson close to 1,000 hits.
