  • North Fulton Community Charities will host its second annual Play for Good pickleball tournament on April 26 and April 27 to support its food pantry, emergency assistance and education programs. The tournament includes a beginner’s clinic on the morning of April 26, is held in memory of John Sheffield and has Northside Hospital as its presenting sponsor.  Appen Media
  • On March 12, Lionheart Life Center broke ground on a woodworking shed to expand vocational training opportunities — families, participants and staff gathered as the new space will offer hands-on woodworking skills for future employment.  Appen Media
  • For over two decades the Alpharetta Lions Club has honored local first responders for their service, and on March 27 it expanded the tribute to include Milton officials. The event recognized honorees including Alpharetta dispatcher Kim West, police officer Corey Segall, firefighter Richard Zabala, Milton dispatcher Machell Stone, police officer Jason Jackson, and firefighter Russell Womack.  Appen Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A proposal would raise Governor Brian Kemp's pay from $182,000 to $250,000—tying him with New York's governor—and boost salaries for other state officials; the bill awaits House approval before it goes to Kemp, with raises set to begin July 1.  Atlanta News First
  • Georgia lawmakers are making major changes to key bills as they hurry to finish the legislative session, with HB 268 losing a student database requirement and HB 79 being altered to limit tax credits for gun safety storage. Lawmakers will adjust these measures before the session ends on April 4.  Atlanta News First
