  • Local officials shared boater safety tips ahead of Memorial Day weekend — urging boaters to wear life jackets and inspect their equipment for proper safety. The advice will help residents prepare for safe fun on local waterways over the holiday.  Atlanta News First

  • Georgia DNR urged boaters to wear life jackets, swim with a buddy, and avoid drinking while operating boats ahead of Memorial Day weekend after a kayaker was found dead at Lake Lanier. Game wardens will patrol waterways — enforcing safety laws to keep everyone secure on the water.  Atlanta News First
  • Gov. Brian Kemp praised the three-year freeze on base energy rates set by the Public Service Commission and Georgia Power, a decision that paused rate hikes expected to cover $870 million in storm damage costs after Hurricane Helene. Some customers protested outside the Capitol—led by volunteer Mark Spivey—while the commission will hold a hearing on June 26 and a final vote on July 1.  Atlanta News First
