- ➤ The Atlanta Community Food Bank reported that rising food insecurity—driven by inflation and the loss of COVID-19 economic support—has pushed its monthly outreach from less than 150,000 to nearly 250,000 households while federal budget cuts have cancelled about 300 truckloads of food. Brian Kemp signed a bill in April that will give eligible taxpayers tax rebates from a $16 billion surplus; the Georgia Department of Revenue said those who filed their 2023 and 2024 tax returns on time will receive $250 for singles, $375 for heads of household and $500 for married couples by direct deposit or paper check within 6 to 8 weeks.
