GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The governor’s office said it will begin issuing one-time special tax refund checks this week as part of a bill passed earlier that returns money to taxpayers. The refunds are set to be $250 for single filers and married individuals filing separately — $375 for head of household filers and $500 for married couples filing jointly. WSB-TV
- ➤ Georgia Department of Transportation officials announced that the widening of Ga. 9 in Alpharetta will finish in spring 2026—utility delays and design changes pushed back its original late-2025 schedule. The $50 million project will add two vehicle lanes, bike lanes, on-street parking, upgraded drainage and improved pedestrian lighting along the 3.6-mile stretch from Upper Hembree Road to Windward Parkway.
