Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 19th of June.
Good morning, Alpharetta.
🏛️ Government
Alpharetta City Council will leave former Councilman Brian Will’s Post 2 seat vacant until the November general election — the decision avoids voter confusion and saves over $300,000, Mayor Jim Gilvin said.
Will resigned on June 3 to run for the seat left open by former state Sen. Brandon Beach.
Local utility officials released gas & electric hurricane season safety tips to help Alpharetta residents get ready for severe weather.
The guidelines advise households to inspect equipment and ensure their emergency supplies are up to date.
🏥 Health
The YMCA is offering free vision screenings for campers to check for eye problems—officials say the free service will help catch issues early and guide parents if further care is needed.
The screenings will be provided at local camp sites as part of the YMCA’s health initiative.
