CRIME NEWS

  • Dozens of postal boxes at the Alpharetta U.S. Post Office on Webb Bridge Road were burglarized on June 5 as officers responded at about 7 p.m.—a 62-year-old man reported noticing the tampering at 6:45 p.m. and marks on boxes showed locks had been pried off with no arrests made in the felony burglary case.  Appen Media
  • A Johns Creek teen accused of cashing over $545,000 in fake checks to pay a lawyer was granted a $250,000 bond and released from Muscogee County Jail after depositing the checks at Synovus Bank in Alpharetta—police said he quickly moved the money via wire transfers and purchases.  WSB-TV
  • Officers investigated a theft at the Avalon Apple Store on June 12 when a male suspect stole a gold iPhone 16 Pro valued at $1,099 at about 3:30 p.m.—security cameras captured the incident and the suspect, a 36-year-old from Marietta with past thefts at Atlanta Apple Stores and a 2023 shoplifting warrant, is now under review.  Appen Media

  • Georgia Power recommends that customers check and change their air filters and keep vents clear to help lower power bills during the heat wave. The company works with the state's Public Service Commission to maintain electricity during heat advisories and offers rebates for energy efficient home upgrades.  Atlanta News First

  • Metro Atlanta is facing extreme heat that has led to a surge in air conditioner repair calls and more people needing shelter, with nonprofits like Frontline at Gresham Park helping residents such as Kareem stay safe +.
