Good morning, Alpharetta.

From today through early next week, community events light up the region with fireworks at Stone Mountain Park, live music on the Village Green in Alpharetta, and cultural festivals in Johns Creek and Sandy Springs (readers can check local schedules for times and venues).

Alpharetta celebrated the nation's 250th birthday yesterday when the Convention & Visitors Bureau hosted America250 at its Welcome Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering cupcakes, giveaways, and a self-guided walking tour that linked local landmarks with chapters from American history (including a duck display).

Rising hunger in metro Atlanta has increased demand at the Atlanta Community Food Bank as CEO Kyle Wade notes more families need help — a Heat Advisory is in effect until 8:00 p.m. EDT for Fulton and surrounding counties.

Alpharetta District Places broke ground (June 30) on 2.4 acres along Roswell Street between Old Milton Parkway and Marietta Street, adding four buildings and 34,000 sqft of retail and restaurant space that fits the Heritage District style.

The project will open in late 2027.
