- ➤ Lt. Governor Burt Jones has joined the race for governor with a $14 million campaign war chest—he used $10 million of his own money. His rival, Attorney General Chris Carr, accused Jones and his family of trying to buy the race while Jones said his personal investment shows he has skin in the game. Atlanta News First
- ➤ Fulton County Commissioner Bridget Thorne held a two-hour online town hall on July 8 to explain property assessments and the 45-day appeal period ending Aug. 1, detailing how taxable values are capped by inflation. Some residents voiced concerns about rising home values and unclear appraisal methods while Thorne, who opposes a property tax rate increase, planned another meeting on July 29—offering further guidance on the appeal process.
