EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Georgia Student Finance Commission announced that nearly 15,300 families applied for the Georgia Promise vouchers while 8,600 students qualified to receive $6,500 distributed quarterly—each quarter providing $1,625. Families can apply again in September and December for spring 2026 participation and 75% of eligible students come from lower-income households. WSB-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fulton County officials are reviewing a proposal for a 5% water and sewer rate hike that could raise monthly bills by about 50 cents for most customers. If approved, the new rates will start on January 1, 2026 + the funds will pay for upgrades at the Camp Creek Water Reclamation Facility. FOX 5 Atlanta
- ➤ Alpharetta City Council approved a contract with Integrated Construction and Nobility on July 28 to combine projects at Old Rucker Park, Union Hill Park, Wills Park and the Wills Park Equestrian Center — the deal saved about $900,000 — and work is expected to finish in about two years.
