- ➤ Sheriff Patrick Labat sharply criticized the county on Thursday for a $1.2B plan to build a new jail next to renovations at Rice Street—he said he was not consulted and warned the plan puts inmate safety at risk until construction ends by 2030. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
