- ➤ Fulton County Sheriff Labat told Atlanta City Council that ending the jail lease next year will make the crowded county jail even more dangerous—he said planned fixes at Rice Street will cost too much and take too long. Labat warned that unsafe conditions may lead to more violence and lawsuits if the lease is terminated. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
