- ➤ Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 to celebrate Latin culture and history and has featured events in metro Atlanta and North Georgia. Local celebrations—ranging from soccer matches and film festivals to art exhibits and dinners—have drawn community attention with some events already held and others scheduled later this month. - ➤ Federal workers in metro Atlanta are worried that Congress will not reach a budget deal by Oct. 1—putting about 60,000 workers at risk of furloughs and delayed pay until a new plan is approved. Atlanta News First
