- ➤ Dr. James Russell of Georgia Gwinnett College studies how bacteria—Wolbachia may lower the invasive Joro spider population by sterilizing females during mating. His four-year research shows promising early results that could lead to better control of the spiders which attach webs to homes and trees but are nearly harmless to people. Atlanta News First

- ➤ Rising health care costs are forcing many Georgians to worry as pandemic subsidies expire—Fulton County silver plan premiums may jump from about $600 to as high as $4,800, putting roughly 460,000 at risk of losing coverage in 2026.
