EDUCATION NEWS

  • Five eighth graders from Fulton County will receive $10,000 each upon high school graduation to help them attend any Georgia HOPE-eligible university. The REACH program—launched in 2012—offers first-generation students academic support and monthly mentor meetings to remove barriers to college success.  Appen Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Commissioner John F. King announced that State Farm has cut auto insurance rates by over 10% for Georgia drivers, a reduction that will save nearly $400 million a year and about $190 per insured car—an effort aimed at making coverage more affordable. The move may prompt other insurers to lower rates as part of a statewide push to help families manage costs.  WSB-TV
  • Fulton County officials held a hard-hat tour on November 18th at the nearly completed Health and Human Services Center at 4770 North Point Parkway off Ga. 400 in Alpharetta. The facility will open in early next year to provide expanded senior health services and other county programs—helping North Fulton residents access vital care.  Appen Media
