- ➤ Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced that Liberty Mutual and two Safeco offices will cut rates for local customers with reductions of nearly 6% and around 5% (cut rates follow a similar cut from State Farm in November). The move reflects early results of this year's tort reform legislation. WSB-TV

- ➤ Metro Atlanta doctors warned that flu cases spiked earlier than usual — the CDC noted 8% positivity for tests ending Dec. 6 — and urged families to get vaccinated given low flu shot rates among children. Atlanta News First
