- ➤ The Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved $6.4 million on May 7 for the Sheriff’s Office to hire, retain and pay overtime for detention staff at jail facilities, including an Alpharetta annex. The extra funding comes amid a federal consent decree and persistent staffing challenges — measures that will be reviewed quarterly — to help restore safe and humane conditions in the jails.
